2023 was a resounding success for us, with our team’s riders being champions of Spain in every category. And this year was no exception…

Last season, the Spanish Championship didn’t take place, but thanks to the new organizing team of the Trafalgar Skim Contest, the championship of Spain returned to the magical Cadiz beach, and it happened again! We won in the OPEN (men’s and women’s) and U18 categories. Not only that, but each of the winners has a story with a certain epic things.
Let’s be clear: we’re proud of each of the riders on our team, regardless of their results. However, the stories of Xoxe, Juanlu, and Nico seem like they’re straight out of a movie, because after their personal stories, all three can truly say it: they are skim champions of Spain and olé!

Starting with Xoxe Conde, who has achieved another well-deserved victory, and who knows how many more there are now… But this time is, if anything, even more special than several of the previous ones combined: pregnancy, raising a 1-year-old baby, and moving house/city have kept her away from the shore and out of competition for a couple of years, with barely any time to practice. As she herself said at the awards ceremony, mothers will know how complicated it is to get back in shape and prepare after pregnancy/childbirth, and those who are not mothers/fathers can try to get an idea… But the return of the championship in Cádiz was the perfect opportunity to recapture the feeling of competition lycra, and she was really looking forward to it. With no expectations beyond feeling that adrenaline rush again, but… The rest is history: Xoxe was crowned Spanish champion, again.

Juanlu González was also out of competition in 2024 due to a complex mental health process -which he himself explained a few weeks ago on his Vida Salada YouTube channel- after being crowned European champion in 2023. He returned to competition this year with renewed energy, and he achieved it too: he took the title in a beautiful final, joined on the podium by Malaga native Javi Sola and our own Ale Montañés, who finished in a strong third place after nearly missing the Spanish Championship because it clashed with one of his medical university exams.

And finally, our youngest rider, after a year studying in Canada and also away from the coast… Nico Morales arrived at just the right time to become the U18 Spanish champion. He couldn’t register for both the Junior and Open categories, so he decided to join the kids his own age and took a more than deserved first place. He certainly has talent for that and more, and in addition to a huge future, he also has a tremendous present.

Three epic stories with a happy ending. Three film-like stories that make us smile. We’re repeating the 2023 story, which featured Jesule González, Ale Montañés, and Xoxe herself. We’re eager to find out what will happen next.

Until then, it’s time to enjoy, congratulate our fans, thank the organizers of an event that supports national skimboarding, and prepare for our upcoming commitments.
